Dave Meyer, president of BizzyWeb and IABC Minnesota, will discuss how businesses can pick the best ways to get the word out on their companies and use the tools to generate leads and, ulitmately, sales. This is an introductory presentation on how to use the "Big 4" in social media -- Facebook, LInkedIn, Twitter and Blogs -- in the real world for business.

October 21st meeting notes
Unfortunately I was not able to make the meeting on Wednesday due to the stomach flu. I really am so upset and disappointed because I had a great speaker that I was so looking forward to hearing and meeting.
My friend Kris Munnich who is a Party Lite consultant ran the show for me. I can't thank her enough for doing this for me. Kris said that Maren Beckman (life coach, read last blog for more information on Maren) was a wonderful speaker and everyone really enjoyed her and really got something from this meeting. I definitely will be asking Maren to come back for sure.
Just a quick note, Kris and Denise who were both at the meeting last night were offered a great opportunity to help build their business, this really could really bring a lot of business for both of them. With coming and meeting other women and networking the possibilities are endless. Remember all this cost them was one night for a couple of hours, in a great atmosphere where you get to meet great women and make new contacts and relationships. I truly hope you can make the next meeting. My next meeting I have a great speaker to discuss social networking. Watch for my next blog.
Until next time....Melissa Gootee

Key Speaker for October 21st meeting
Every month I will post the Bio for the key speaker that we will be having next so you can really get to know each person and will have a better understanding of who they are and what they do.
Maren Beckman will be speaking about building relationships and how they will help us in our business and in our own lives.
Maren is a certified Life Transitions and Relationship Coach, mediator, and former mental health therapist. She specializes in coaching people through difficult life transitions, such as starting a new relationship, blending two families, feeling stuck in a relationship, and divorce.
Her clients have said that through her coaching they experience immediate relief and gain long-term tools and skills they can use in every transition they may face in the future and with all of their relationships.
Maren enjoys reading, running, and nature hides, gazing at sunsets, sliding across wood floors in socks, and just about anything that involves play and humor, especially with her family.
Maren believes each one of us has the power to become more awake, alive, and aware in our lives. In short, she believes that anyone can begin again—no matter what the circumstance.

Women Helping Womens First Meeting

On Wednesday September 16th I officially started my new networking group. I don't think I have been so nervous! I really wanted this first meeting to be good and run smoothly.
Well it did, all those nerves went crazy for nothing. Oh, execpt that I was so nervous that I forgot to take pictures during my first meeting. I think someone else will have to be in charge of that from now on.
So now it's time, I introduce myself and thank everyone for coming. I started by telling everyone why I wanted to start this group. Then I explained how we will conduct our meetings and then I introduced our sponsors for the night. My first sponsors was Jill Schmidt who is the catering director for the Medina Entertainment Center ( http://www.medinaentertainment.com/ ). Kris Munnich was my second sponsor, she is a Party lite consultant ( http://www.partylite.biz/sites/krisminnich/host-a-show-specialoffers ). They each got about 5 minutes to to tell everyone who they are and what they do. Then I introduced my first key speaker, Nicole Middendorf, she is a financial advisor. Her and her husband own Strategic Financial (www.helpingyouinvest.com). I chose Nicole for many reasons, but mainly because she is a great speaker, knows her business, and works mainly with women. She was phenomenal! She came up front and explained who she is and how she became a financial advisor. She then gave us good tips for us right now, being that things are just a bit crazy in our financial world. She also gave each person a folder with information about her, but also gave us one of her books. It is called Simple Answers Life is more than just money. It is written in question and answer form. I am about half way through it and it is so full of information and answers.
OK, so now we get to the best part. We start the networking process. Now we were a smaller group so we had to be creative how we mixed it up. We started as groups of eight, we went around in a circle and told everyone who we are and what we do or have to offer. Then they hand out what ever information they want to give to everybody. When that is all done then we remixed and started the process over with a new group. I think it went really well and everyone had a chance to really get to each person at their table. The goal is for everyone to meet at least 15 people each meeting. Now if you come early or stay later you can definitely meet even more women.
It went so well and it really was a great success. Everyone who was their believes in this group and thinks it will be a great place for women to come and build new relationships and grow their business and/or their friendships.
So I hope that you will be able to join us for our next meeting. Melissa
My first Event

My first event for my new group was in Wayzata. I recently became a member of the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce. Each year they hold an event called James J. Hill Days. I decided that I would join in the festivities and have a small booth inviting Women to my Networking Group.

I'm not sure if you could call it a huge success but I did meet many women who have their own business or work for a business. I feel I received great feedback about my new group. I told them why I wanted to start this group and why I think it will be a huge success.

I have added a few pictures so you could see what it was like. What is really quite neat is that my first Key Speaker was also at James J. Hil Days. Her name is Nicole Middendorf. Nicole and her Husband own the company Stratigic Financial. Nicole is a financial advisor and mainly works with women. She also speaks on the radio and television, there she gives people advice and her great knowledge. I had personally met her about a year ago. When I was thinking of who I wanted to be my first speaker she popped into my head right away.
